Olympic and Paralympic heroes were in Regent Street tonight along with thousands of others to welcome the start of the festive season.
Team GB Medallists Greg Rutherford, Beth Tweddle, Max Whitlock and Helen Glover were among the stars of the Games to switch on the Christmas lights.
For the first time they were displayed along the full length of Regent Street, from north of Oxford Circus all the way down to Piccadilly Circus, before continuing south down Regent Street in St James’s.
It capped off an entertaining night for the crowds, who were treated to a choral performance of the 12 Days of Christmas and an appearance by the cast of the West End show Matilda.
Team GB Chef de Mission Andy Hunt was delighted with the crowds and tweeted pictures of the evening’s festivities.
