Parents and community raise funds for Willesden primary school’s new playground

Summer fete held at Convent of Jesus and Mary Catholic Infant School raises £4,000

Hundreds of parents and community members have clubbed together raising thousands of pounds in their quest to fund a new playground for Willesden schoolchildren.

More than 500 pupils, parents and local businesses came to the Convent of Jesus and Mary Catholic Infant School in Park Avenue, Willesden, for a fun filled summer fete.

Among the activities included a petting farm for children and a performance from ballet school, Bluebirds, while Sarah Teather, minister for children and families and MP for Brent Central also came to show her support.

Burgers and sausages were also provided by O’Farrells butchers in High Road, Willesden during the event on Saturday,which took around £4,000.

Orla Davison, co-chair of the Parent and Teachers Association, who helped to organise the festivities, praised the team spirit of everyone involved.

She said: “It was a really fantastic day, adults and children both came along which was brilliant.

“We had fantastic support from so many local groups and organisations that all did a fantastic job.”
