Pam Wheeler, 76, was found with her wrists and ankles tied at her Newacres Road home by police last Sunday at 6.25pm after neighbours became concerned about her whereabouts.

Officers believe that Mrs Wheeler was attacked in her home at some point between last Thursday afternoon (July 19) and the following morning.

Two separate witnesses have described two males acting suspiciously near a car at the front of the victim’s house on Thursday evening.

Det Ch Insp Graeme Gwyn is in charge of the case he said: “Mrs Wheeler was found dead in her own home, with her wrists and ankles tied.

I need to hear from anyone with any information that will help us bring to justice whoever carried out this shocking and tragic crime.”

A post-mortem examination at Greenwich Mortuary on Tuesday could not determine an exact cause of death. There have been no arrests at present.

Anyone with information should call the incident room at Lewisham Police Station on 0208 721 4805 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
