The town hall was refused permission to appeal the Leaseholder Valuation Tribunal (LVT) judgement that it was over-charged by £1million for work on two blocks on the Tremlett Grove estate, in Archway.

It means the council will have to cut charges to the 14 leaseholders affected by £225,000, or about £16,000 each.

Judy Granville, 61, one of the leaseholders who brought the action, said: “In my opinion, the request to appeal was very flimsy. If this means it’s the end of the saga, then I’m delighted.”

The council could yet appeal to the Lands Tribunal.
