London elections: Boris Johnson held to account by Labour-dominated Assembly

The body responsible for scrutinising re-elected Tory Mayor of London Boris Johnson will be dominated by Labour politicians.

The make-up for the 25-member London Assembly is Labour 12, Conservative nine, Lib Dem two and Green two.

Each voter could vote for an individual candidate to represent their constituency, as well as for a party or independent candidate to represent the whole of London.

Eleven seats on the London Assembly are allocated to parties or independent candidates based on their London-wide share of the vote.

Only parties securing more than five per cent of the vote were eligible for a seat.

Based on the numbers, the UK Independence Party was less than 0.5 per cent short of claiming a seat.

The result is a four-seat gain for Labour from the 2008 election, with the Tories down by two and the Lib Dems losing one. The Green stay on the same number as before.

The London-wide Assembly members elected are: Andrew Boff (C), Gareth Bacon (C), Victoria Borwick (C), Nicky Gavron (Lab), Murad Qureshi (Lab), Fiona Twycross (Lab), Tom Copley (Lab), Caroline Pidgeon (LD), Stephen Knight (LD), Jenny Jones (Green), Darren Johnson (Green).
