Boris Johnson is as remote from Londoners as a blue alien with stalks sticking from its head, claimed rival Ken Livingstone.

With three days until votes are cast in the London Mayoral election, the Labour candidate turned up the heat with a new attack advert.

Mayor Johnson is depicted as an extraterrestrial creature from outer space - complete with protusions and bright skin hue.

It is part of efforts by the Labour team to link Johnson with the under-fire Conservative-led coalition government in Whitehall.

Johnson has distanced himself from his colleagues’ troubles in parliament by focusing on tax promises and his own agenda for London.

Livingstone vowed to undo the policies of his rival main rival in a letter published today.

“If Ken is elected he will immediately instruct his officials to cut Londoner’s bus, tube and train fares, reverse Boris Johnson’s police cuts and put money back into Londoners pockets and purses.

“Ken will put in place innovative policies which will see London at the forefront of new ideas which will make Londoners better off with the first ever London-wide EMA, the first ever London-wide lettings agency and the first London-wide Energy coop.

“The Tory alternative is more of the same; fare increases, police cuts and a Tory agenda which has seen record unemployment in the capital, rising violent crime levels and a double dip recession.”
