Queen Elizabeth’s “undignified” London Olympics stunt criticised

The 86-year-old monarch thrilled viewers when she appeared to parachute out of a helicopter with James actor Daniel Craig into the Olympic stadium in Stratford.

But one subject who was not so amused was Richard Ingram – the former Private Eye editor.

“I think the queen made a great mistake when she agreed to do that stunt with Daniel Craig. What can she and her advisers have been thinking of? It was very undignified for an 86-year-old woman,” he said.

“I noticed that when she appeared in the stadium she didn’t look amused. Quite right, too. She’d been taken for a ride,” Mr Ingram told the Evening Standard.
