A London cabbie has devised a plan for Britain’s smallest mobile street party for the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

While celebrations are taking place in roads and big venues across the capital, Colin ‘The Cabbie’ Sinclaire will be offering passengers the street party experience from his black taxi - complete with brass band music, bunting and a fold-out table full of tasty British treats.

He has inspired another 100 drivers to follow suit.

Colin came up with the idea while venting his frustration about being stuck working this weekend to his wife Andrea.

He decided to turn his cab into a mobile street party, with the help of GetTaxi, the free taxi-ordering app.

GetTaxi loved the idea so much it has decked out a special Jubilee fleet of cabs.

Colin said: “I love celebrating a good British knees-up, but I can’t afford not to work on the busiest weekend of the year.

“I didn’t want this to stop me from joining the fun, so I created what I’ve named ‘Britain’s smallest mobile street party’.

“The brass band may have been a bit OTT but the punters seem to love it! I was delighted that GetTaxi encouraged my crazy idea and have ended up getting more of their fleet to join in too.

“I was so depressed about having to work over the weekend, but now I’m throwing my own party!”

To book one of the Jubilee taxis first download GetTaxi’s free app, which is available on iPhone, Android and Blackberry.

Then use the app to book a cab with the word ‘Jubilee’ in the Message To Driver box.
