A new world record for the longest line of trumpet players has been set in London to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Dressed in full ceremonial uniform, 91 trumpeters from seven different military units blasted out The Wedding Fanfare at the Wellington Barracks.

The music was so loud it could be heard at nearby Buckingham Palace, organisers said.

The Guinness World Records attempt was staged by the Victoria Business Improvement District (BID).

Chief executive Ruth Duston said: “This was a wonderful event, showcasing the wealth of cultural activity Victoria has to offer as well as celebrating our close links with the Royal Family.”

Cameron Thompson, of Westminster City Council, said: “It’s a fantastic and highly original way for this part of central London, with its very close royal connections, to celebrate Her Majesty’s six decades on the throne.”
