Sexy underwear for Jubilee

Archant

Wearing sexy underwear is not the most obvious way to celebrate the Jubilee – but thanks to a new lingerie range it is one option.

High street institution Marks & Spencer has unleashed a line of sizzling undies in time to coincide with national celebrations of that other bastion of tradition – the British Monarchy.

“Using gorgeous vintage inspired silk and lace to luxurious satin and mesh combinations, this collection emulates the glamour of the 50’s,” trumpets the press release.

The range is inspired by M&S designs from 1952, when the Queen ascended to the throne.

But is a sexy vintage range the right way to celebrate the reign of England’s second longest serving monarch?

Given the exploits of mistresses like Nell Gywn with Charles II and various others who got scandalously close to the Crown – M&S’s new range would almost certainly gain the royal seal of approval.

However, critics may look on a range of titillating underwear as an odd way in which to celebrate the Jubilee – as the press release exhorts customers to do.

A naked bid to cash-in on a national event would be one less generous interpretation.

England’s lomgest-reigning monarch Queen Victoria for one is unlikely to have been amused.
