Battersea Dogs and Cats home has revealed some of the strange names given to pets by their owners, after carrying out a social media survey.
Chicken-Fish, Pickywickywoowoo, Toe-Jam, Mr Terry Foxer, Doobywotsits, Yum Yum and Towpath Tidy all feature in the top 20 monikers used by the charity’s 225,000 Facebook and Twitter fans.
The list of cats’ names also includes a Princess Maisie Dolores, Strawberry Surprise, Bat Cat and Mister Fuzzy Mittens.
Operations manager Rob Young said: “Unlike humans, animals don’t really know what they are called so you can be a bit bonkers when it comes to naming your four-legged friends - just remember you may need to shout it out in the garden or at the park.”
Battersea, which takes in around 9,000 dogs and cats every year, also has its share of animals with unusual names.
They include an Anatolian shepherd cross named Senor Snuggles, and a cat who has been christened Cuddle Bear.
Rob added: “Around half of the dogs and cats we take in are strays so we constantly have to come up with names to give our new arrivals.
“We love the wacky names in our top 20 - they are truly original. You never know, they may inspire us when it comes to naming some of Battersea’s furry residents.”
