Smell hits train passengers through Wembley Park and Neasden

Tube chiefs have complained to the Environment Agency after a rotten smell which has been plaguing Neasden and Wembley hit commuters on the Jubilee Line.

The Times can reveal that top brass at London Underground got in contact with the agency after receiving a complaint from a passenger over the putrid smell.

The odour has been traced to a waste management site in Hannah Close, Neasden. Seneca Environmental Solutions has blamed mechanical fault for the problem – which the company has said it is ‘working tirelessly’ to correct.

Twitter has been awash with commuters complaining about the smell, which residents say has been apparent for around a month.

One person tweeted: “What is that awful smell of rotting meat between Neasden and Wembley Park?”

Another wrote: “Right, I’m not imagining it. There’s a funny smell between Neasden and Wembley Park.”

Kevin Bootle, Jubilee line manager at London Underground, said: “TfL have contacted the company responsible via the Environment Agency to see whether the matter can be resolved.”
