Beer boffins claim to have found a scientific formula for the perfect pint 200 years after the introduction of the standard drinks measure.

E is a factor describing overall enjoyment
T is the ambient temperature in degrees Celsius
W is the number of days until you are required back at work
P is the number of people with whom you are drinking
M is related to your mood whilst drinking the pint
V is related to the volume of the music being played
S and F are related to the availability of snacks and food
Scientists at Mindlab interviewed 1,000 volunteers and used complex mathematical systems to come up with the recipe for the most enjoyable beverage, taking into account ambient factors like the weather, food and friends.
Research also found that one in ten 35 to 44 year olds said a cheeky lunchtime pint tasted best, whereas 29 per cent of those aged between 18 and 24 preferred a tipple on a Sunday afternoon.
Almost seven in 10, or 69 per cent, of those aged 65 and over believe loud music would spoil their pint compared to 17 per cent of 18 to 24 year olds.
