Tributes were paid at last night’s MTV awards to singer Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in her north London home.
A clip of her final performance was shown at the Video Music Awards in Los Angeles by veteran crooner Tony Bennett – who duetted with Winehouse on the classic, Body and Soul, shortly before her death at 27-years-old.
Brand, who attended the bash with pop star wife Kate Perry, led tributes to Camden-based Winehouse.
“A lot of people just get the disease, not many people get the incredible talent that was blessed with,” said Brand, 36.
“Let’s remember there is a solution. That solution is available.”
He called on fans to remember Winehouse for her music and for addicts to get help to beat their problems.
Winehouse died at her home in Camden, on July 23.
No illegal substances were found in her body by toxicology tests.
American artist Bruno Mars covered Winehouse’s hit song, Valerie.
Originally by indie also-ran’s The Zutons, Valerie gained a second life with Winehouse’s distinctive re-working of the song.
