Hawksmoor in Bentham Road, Heronsgate, Whinchat Road, Linton Mead, in Central Way, and Jubilee, Crowden Way, all received £250 from the community organisation at the start of the school year.

Heronsgate pupils put their cash towards putting together a poetry book and creating carnival costumes for their summer fair.

CJ Peter-Kine, seven, said: “I really enjoyed making costumes for our carnival. We used lots of fabric and peacock feathers. The carnival was a lot of fun.”

Hawksmoor invested their funding in creating a family room.

Parent Anne-Marie Goldspring said: “This will make for happier and content parents and children, which can only benefit the school and the community.”

Linton Mead created photography and cook books while Jubilee filmed a documentary about past, present and future Thamesmead.
