Eight officers will work in the borough during the first two weekends of the Games, alongside Tower Hamlets enforcement officers.

The council hope their increased presence will ensure the borough remains safe during the busy Olympic period, and reassure residents.

Mayor of Tower Hamlets Lutfur Rahman said: “I am pleased to welcome the enforcement officers from Nottingham who will work with our officers, and hope this helps reassure residents that we are doing everything possible to ensure they can feel safe and enjoy the Olympic Games.”

Cllr Alex Norris, head of community safety at Nottingham City Council, added: “Nottingham City Council is keen to support this historic event and pleased that at the same time our officers will get a chance to acquire skills and experience.”
