Motorists will be banned from driving on roads reserved solely for Olympic VIPs when the first Olympics Games Lanes opens tomorrow.

Three and a half miles of road on the M4 motorway between junctions two and three will become off-limits for normal traffic.

The lane will be in operation between 5am and 10pm to help members of the “Games family” get from Heathrow Airport to London – including athletes and officials.

It is the first section of the Olympic Route Network to open, which totals 30 miles.

The Games Lanes will be clearly marked and will operate alongside existing traffic.

Any driver caught using the enclosed section of what is usually the public highway faces a £130 penalty charge.
