A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal M1 collision that resulted in the death of two men this morning.

The 25-year-old, from east London, was detained by Hertfordshire Constabulary after the incident, which took place between junctions four and five at around 2.40am.

The collision involved two black BMWs. The driver and rear seat passenger of one of the cars died at the scene. They were also from east London and were aged 22 and 24.

Two other passengers of this vehicle, who are both men, suffered serious injuries and were taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

The four men in the second car were also injured and were taken to hospital.
