A Tottenham transsexual who posted her “real-time suicide” bid on Twitter was saved after concerned followers across the country tracked her down and alerted emergency services.
The woman began tweeting to her hundreds of followers about taking a drug overdose just before 7pm on Tuesday, posting: “tonight - i shuffle off this mortal coil.”
Over the next hour, she continued to tweet updates about taking nine pills which she had “stockpiled,” telling her 681 followers: “i am a useless, failed human being - damaged beyond repair.”
She added: “sh*t father. sh*t son, sh*t partner, sh*t brother... and making a hash of being female to boot... i am universally reviled.”
The tweets stop just before 8pm - when it is understood the emergency services arrived at the address and took her to hospital.
Yesterday, the woman used the social media tool to thank those who had acted so quickly.
She tweeted: “again twitter such thanks as I can give to each and every one of you who showed such concern. You have restored my faith in humanity.”
A Haringey police spokesman confirmed the emergency services had been called to the incident. She said: “We were called to an address in N17 at approx 7.20pm after concerns were raised over the welfare of an individual at the property.
“Police arrived at the property and the individual was taken by London Ambulance Service to a north London hospital as a precaution.”
