A falling window killed a woman in Mayfair, this lunchtime.
The horrific incident happened near Hanover Square.
According to witness reports, a wood framed pane of glass fell from a building site onto pedestrians.
Police had not confirmed the object at 2.20pm, but confirmed the victim was a woman in her 20s.
Emergency services including an air ambulance tried to save her life but she was declared dead at the scene.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “We were called to Hanover Square with the junction of Hanover Street at 1130 hrs by London Ambulance Service.
“At this stage it is believed an unknown object has fallen from a building and struck a female on the street.”
Witnesses at the scene took to Twitter to publish their view on the micro-blogging site.
