Six fire engines and 30 firefighters battled the blaze in White Hart Lane, while police blocked off the surrounding roads after the emergency services were called a 4.15pm today.

The firefighters left the scene shortly after 8.30pm.

It is believed the business on fire was family-run CVS Van Hire.

A tweet sent out by London Fire Brigade revealed they were worried about cylinders involved in the fire and a hazard zone was set up as a precaution, with 40 people evacuated from their homes.

Another tweet read: “We’re working hard to bring the workshop fire on White Hart Lane, Tottenham, under control. Seems the smoke can be seen from miles away.”

Haringey police have tweeted the fire is not thought to be suspicious and no injuries have been reported.
