  • Innovation: Sponsored by Tfl Enterprise
    Entrant should illustrate how they have taken an innovative approach to successfully improve their organisation and/or society – in the industry, the workplace, the environment and/or the community, to meet a social or environmental need. This innovation may include leadership, integration of responsible business practices, new techniques or technology and may take the form of a product, process or service. This category is open to small and medium sized businesses only.
    » What is the idea, how is it innovative to your business?
    » How has the idea implemented within your business?
    » How has this idea impacted upon the business and/or society?
  • Community Involvement
    » How was the need identified and how did your company become involved?
    » How is your business involved and what is its role?
    » How has the local community, e.g. a school or club, benefited as a result?
  • Growth business
    » How does your business fit into your marketplace?
    » What are your businesses financial figures year on year? (this information will be treated as confidential)
    » What were your plans and targets to date?
    » What did you do to achieve the growth?
    » What are your targets for the future?
  • New business
    » When was your business formed?
    » Produce a S.W.O.T. analysis together with a brief business plan.
    » How has your business performed against your business plan?
    » What plan does your business have for the next 3 years?
  • Retail Business of the Year
    » Provide an outline of your business. Who is your customer base and what makes your business special?
    » What is the internal staff perception of your business?
    » What is the customer perception of the business?
    » Provide details of your customer care plan
  • Training and development
    » Demonstrate how training links to your business objectives.
    » Submit your Training Plan, with resources, costs and monitoring.
    » Specify the training and development actions taken.
    » Show what systems you use to evaluate the training.
    » Provide examples of how training has benefited staff.
    » Provide examples of the business improvements gained from training.
    » Explain your future training plans and their reasons.
  • Environmental Business of the Year
    » Businesses must be able to show how they actively minimise their environmental impact e.g. through workplace travel plans, waste management
    and recycling initiatives
    » Businesses must be able to demonstrate an active environmental policy including green procurement or an environmental management system
    » Manufacture or distribute environmentally sustainable materials, products or
    services, e.g. local, fair-trade or recycled products
    » Incorporate environmental equipment within its operation or the use of innovative technology such as alternatively fuelled vehicles, energy efficient equipment, green energy and water saving initiatives
    » Provide us with evidence of your environmental credentials
  • Business person of the Year
    » State position in the organisation/business and describe relevant
    » Outstanding achievements to date.
    » How has this person impacted upon the organisation/business?
    » What is the perception of their peers, team mates, managers.
  • Best use of science or technology
    » Provide details of the science or technology used
    » Describe how it was applied in your business
    » Demonstrate how the employment of the Science or Technology has benefited
    your business through one or more of the following: improved productivity,
    new business achieved, new markets or customers gained, or new products
    developed.
  • Customer care
    » What is your customer care policy both internally and externally? How does this differ from your competition?
    » Provide a brief case study example.
    » Support your entry with testimonials where possible.
  • Outstanding young person
    » State position in the organisation/business and describe relevant outstanding
    achievements to date.
    » How has this person impacted upon the organisation/business?
    » What is the perception of their peers, team mates, managers.
  • Excellence in marketing
    » The company must have been trading for a minimum of 12 months on the closing date for entries.
    » The company must be located within the North & West London area.
    » The company must have successfully delivered a campaign or initiative to promote a product/service/business and will include one of the following:
    » A fully co-ordinated campaign
    » A pioneering or creative marketing initiative
    » A creative concept used in individual media (e.g. advertising, marketing,
    website, etc)
  • Diversity in business
    » Demonstrate how you effectively promote your commitment to diversity
    » Provide a clear internal strategy that reflects diversity from within the workforce and your customer base
    » Demonstrate how your development of staff is fair, effective and non-discriminator
    » Demonstrate how you have close ties with your local community to ensure
    recruitment of skilled resources from a variety of backgrounds
    » Demonstrate general adjustments in the workplace which reflect the individual needs of a diverse workforce.
  • International business

    » Show how through inward investment in staff and resources, performance and efficiency have increased.
