Accrington Stanley striker Padraig Amond has backed James Beattie to have the same impact on his side’s form as Edgar Davids has done for Barnet.

The two sides meet on Friday night with the Bees in form after picking up 10 points from their last six games and Amond hopes that the former Southampton man can do the same for Stanley.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “I think a lot of our lads are going to feel a lot more confident playing with someone like James Beattie.

“He’s come in and we’ve already learned bits and bobs off him, which is really good. He can come in and make the team even better.

“Whether it’s his influence or whether it’s just the players feeling more confident because they’re playing with a good player like that, Edgar Davids has obviously got results for them.”
