Santi Cazorla admits he is happy he left the chaos of Malaga behind to sign for Arsenal.

The Spaniard left his homeland and the beleaguered La Liga club and has made an instant success of his switch to the Emirates.

Cazorla has revealed that, at one stage, it was not clear who was in charge of his financially troubled former side.

“What happened in Malaga was, in a sense, chaos,” he told Spanish newspaper, El Pais

“There were economic problems and a lot of uncertainty; we were waiting to see if the club would get out of trouble for us to be allowed in the Champions League.

“It was not immediately clear who was the boss at Malaga.

“The Sheik (owner Abdullah Al-Thani) was not at Malaga very much, and it was difficult to get an explanation of what was happening, there was no information.

“There was no one to explain what was happening, and when (former President) Hierro left, that was no one to talk to.”

All the uncertainty helped him decide to leave for the Premier League and to sign for the Gunners this summer.

“I knew it was the right time to leave,” he said.

“There was an offer from Arsenal and I had to jump on it.

“It was welcomed after the Malaga situation, and I was at the right age to take the opportunity.”
