Arsenal transfer news: Johan Djourou is unhappy at the Gunners

Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has revealed that he is considering leaving the Emirates in the summer after falling down the pecking order at the Gunners and being played out of position.

The Swiss centre back made 37 league appearances in the 2010/11 season but only made 29 appearances last campaign as he found himself behind the likes of Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.

Djourou was also asked to play at right back during the north Londoners’ injury crisis.

“My situation at Arsenal is not easy. I’ve never played so little, and especially not in my own position,” Djourou told 20min.ch.

“If an interesting offer comes, I’ll look at it carefully.”

And Switzerland boss Ottmar Hitzfeld says Djourou must play more if he wants to be a starter for the national side.

“For Djourou, the question arises of a transfer,” Hitzfeld told RTS Sport.

“If he wants to be selected, he must have some game time in the club. This is not the case at Arsenal.”
