Injury-plagued midfielder Diaby has been absent since hobbling off in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in September, while Santos has not featured since November.

Diaby completed 65 minutes in the match at Arsenal’s London Colney training base and Santos, who scored the Gunners’ equaliser after the Baggies had gone in front, completed the 90 minutes.

Young midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong also started the match but was given his marching orders in injury time for his second bookable offence.

The Arsenal line-up also featured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Carl Jenkinson, Francis Coquelin and Vito Mannone.
