Arsenal transfer news: Bordeaux keen to sign Marouane Chamakh
Bordeaux have offered Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh a way out of the Emirates, but have warned he must take a pay cut.
The 28-year-old joined Arsene Wenger's side from the Ligue 1 club two years ago on a free transfer, but has struggled to force his way in the north Londoners starting XI on a regular basis.
Chamakh was recently quoted as saying that he would like to stay and fight for his place at the Emirates.
However Wenger admitted his displeasure at the Moroccan after he was caught smoking a shisha pipe following their defeat against QPR and admitted he was unsure if the player would be a Gunner next season.
Bordeaux have kept a close eye on the situation and president Jean-Louis Triaud claims talks have already taken place.
"I have spoken with Marouane and told him that he is welcome at Bordeaux and that we still have room for him," he said.
"The main problem will be financial because he has tasted the salaries in England and Arsenal will ask for a fee.
"Chamakh has told me that if he was to return to France, it would be to Bordeaux."
