Transfer news: Robin van Persie will not sign a new contract with the Gunners

Arsenal have responded to Robin van Persie’s announcement that he will not renew his deal with the Gunners.

The Dutchman has alerted suitors such as Manchester City, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“We have to respect Robin’s decision not to renew his contract,” it read.

“Robin has one year to run on his current contract and we are confident that he will fulfil his commitments to the Club.

“We are planning with ambition and confidence for next season with Arsenal’s best interests in mind.”
