Arsenal star Thomas Vermaelen has backed team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be given a chance at Euro 2012.

The 18-year-old made his first start for England against Vermaelen’s Belgium and looked comfortable at international level.

“Yeah of course [he will get his chance],” Vermaelen said. “Because I think he’s really brave when he plays and I think players who are really brave should be rewarded for that.

“I’m happy for him he is there in the squad.”
