Transfer news: Laurent Koscielny was aware of interest from Barcelona

Arsenal star Laurent Koscielny signed a new deal at the Gunners, despite being aware of interest from Barcelona.

The 26-year-old was one of the stars of last season, leading him to be linked with the Catalan giants.

“Yes of course and frankly it is flattering,” Koscielny said.

“But at Arsenal I have everything; I have a great training centre, a wonderful stadium and an amazing group.

“I am so happy to have signed a new contract until 2017. It means a lot, notably that the club has a lot of trust in me.

Koscielny has named his two heroes at the Gunners as Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.

“I really want to grow here as Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and some others did,” Koscielny added.
