Arsenal full back Carl Jenkinson believes that he has to burst forward down the right in order to do his job properly.

The Gunners youngster is deputising for the injured Bacary Sagna and has been in good form for the north Londoners in recent games, providing an assist for Gervinho’s strike against Montpellier.

“The way we play as a club, you’ve got to get forward as a full back. I think in the modern game, it’s a big part of a full back’s job,” he told Arsenal Player.

“I think you can find plenty of full backs that can just defend, but the good ones are the ones that get forward as well.

“I try to do that as much as I can, and Gibbo’s [Kieran Gibbs] been doing it really well so we’ve got to keep that as a big part of our game.”
