Transfer news: Frank De Boer feels Jan Vertonghen should join Catalan giants
Ajax manager Frank de Boer hopes in-demand centre-half Jan Vertonghen should join Barcelona at the end of the season.
The Belgian has been heavily linked with both Tottenham and Arsenal and it has been reported that Spurs have already lodged a bid for the 25-year-old.
Vertonghen’s contract expires at the end of next season and Ajax are resigned to losing him.
“I hope he will leave for Barcelona,” De Boer told reporters.
“Of course, Tottenham is a great club for Jan, but I think he will fit perfect at Barca.”
