Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says he will hold discussions with Arsenal over extending Chuks Aneke’s loan after he was sent off on his full debut.

The 19-year-old midfielder was given his marching orders after a two-footed lunch in Crewe’s 2-2 draw with Stevenage on Saturday and will now miss three matches.

On his current one-month deal at the League One club, the ban means he will only be available for their home game against Oldham Athletic on 2nd October before he is due to return to Arsenal.

“He wants to play and we will discuss about extending his loan or not when the time comes,” Davis told Crewe’s official website.

“We haven’t made a decision yet and I will contact Steve Bould at Arsenal and discuss things.

“He would have seen the challenge and know that he isn’t that sort of player.

“Chuks has ability and it is a shame that he hasn’t been able to have the impact he would have wanted because of his three-match suspension.”
