Arsenal transfer news: Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela both looking to leave the Gunners
Arsenal strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela have both confirmed that they wish to complete permanent transfers away from the Emirates.
The pair have been on loan at Sunderland and Real Sociedad respectively after struggling to get into the Gunners’ starting XI on a regular basis.
Both have found success while they have been away from the club, with Bendtner netting 10 times, while Vela has scored 12.
Despite their proficiency in front of goal, their chances of first team football at the Emirates look slim, with club captain Robin van Persie, Park Chu Young and Marouane Chamakh at the club.
Lukas Podolski will also join from Cologne in the summer and Bentdner feels that after eight years the time is right for him to leave.
He Danish football magazine Tipsbladet: “I am ready for new challenges. I have heard about concrete interest from other clubs, who sound interesting, but I can’t say more than that right now. After all, I am still under contract with Arsenal, so I have to get back to Arsenal and talk to them first.
“On the specific matter of staying with Arsenal, I have to say I need something new to happen for me. There is no panic thinking about my future. Now, it’s all about Euro 2012 for Denmark and afterwards I can look at my club future.”
Vela on the other hand is keen to sort out a deal away from the Gunners as quickly as possible, rejecting a chance to play for Mexico in this summer’s Olympics, so he can concentrate fully on finding a new team.
Mexico’s national teams director Hector Gonzalez said: “He told us that he does not want to play for Arsenal and he will go to a different club.
“He asked [not to be called up] so he can play the pre-season and meet his new manager at his new club, because it is almost sure he will not continue on at Real Sociedad.
“Carlos Vela asked on a personal and professional level that he not be selected for any of the Mexican national teams.”
