Transfer news: Sao Paulo are unlikely to keep Denilson

Arsenal midfielder Denilson is set to return to the Gunners after the Sao Paulo president revealed that the Brazilian club could not afford the transfer fee.

The 24-year-old joined the club on a season long loan last summer and Juvenal Juvencio will look to extend that but admitted it would be hard.

“Denilson won’t stay,” Juvencio told UOL. “Arsenal want €6million (£4.9million) for him, but we won’t pay that so we expect him to leave soon.

“Of course we will try to get the loan deal extended for another year, but it won’t be easy.”
