Transfer news: Pavel Pogrebnyak does not believe that Lukas Podolski is better than Andrey Arshavin

Fulham striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has backed Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin to succeed in north London and believes that the Gunners do not need to sign Lukas Podolski.

The Russian moved to Zenith on loan for the rest of the season last month and is rumoured to be leaving for good in the summer, however his former team-mate believes this is a mistake.

“Arshavin is a high-class player and in no way inferior to Podolski,” Pogrebnyak said.

“I think Andrey will return to Arsenal.”
