Sir Alex Ferguson believes the Latics will triumph against the Gunners
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that Wigan will beat Arsenal when the two sides meet at The Emirates tomorrow night.
The Gunners have the opportunity to move eight points clear of fourth placed Tottenham with a win but the Red Devils manager believes that the Latics can pull off a second consecutive upset after triumphing 1-0 against the league leaders on Wednesday.
“They’ve got to get a goal, of course, but if they do they’ll beat Arsenal,” Ferguson said.
“They are playing really well. They should easily be in the middle of the table, rather than down at the bottom, but at times they can’t get a goal.
“If we had been playing any other team but Wigan the other night, we would have been all right because it is unusual for a team to keep possession against us the way they did.
“They’ve got some good players there with great energy. Victor Moses is more than dangerous and they’ve found a role for Shaun Maloney.
“Roberto Martinez’s teams play really good football. He did it at Swansea and he’s doing it at Wigan.”
Wigan were also unlucky not to triumph against Chelsea, with both Blues goals coming from offside positions.
