Lukas Podolski has warned Arsenal not to get carried away with their encouraging start to the season when they face Manchester City on Sunday.
The Germany forward has settled quickly in north London and scored his third goal in as many games in the Gunners’ 2-1 Champions League win against Montpellier last night.
But despite the promising signs, the 27-year-old insists it’s too early to talk about challenging for the Premier League title.
“We have only played four matches. It’s [too early] to speak about the championship,” he told Arsenal’s official website.
“When you win a match, you are not a champion. When you lose a match, you are not a champion.”
Podolski wants Arsenal to focus on their trip to champions City this weekend and thinks they can take three points if they continue their good form.
“We want to win all the matches we play and I think if we play the same as we did against Liverpool and Southampton then we have a chance at Man City to get the three points,” he said.
“It’s very important [to keep playing well]. We have had some strong matches, but Man City played in Madrid and now against us - it’s a tough week.”
