Stoke defender Robert Huth backs fellow German to be a hit in the Premier League
Stoke defender Robert Huth believes Lukas Podolski’s experience will mean he will settle quicker in the Premier League than fellow German Marko Marin.
Podolski, who has 95 caps for his country, will join Arsenal from Cologne for £11million this summer, while Marin, who is three years younger and has 16 caps, will join Chelsea from Werder Bremen.
“It’s a big transfer for Marin! To join such a big club. It will be hard for him to make the first team. Lukas has almost 100 caps, right?” huth told Goal.com.
“He will do a little better than Marin because of his experience. But who knows? Maybe I’m wrong and it will be the other way around and Lukas will be the one having problems.
“Lukas is more athletic, faster and stronger. When you look at Lukas, he is built for the Premier League. You have to wait and see how he copes with everything.
“He was valued at £12 million, that is a lot of pressure to deal with. Marin wasn’t cheap, too, and there weren’t many people who were expecting this transfer.
“But I wish good luck to both of them. It’s nice to have some more Germans in England after [Michael] Ballack and Jens [Lehmann] have left.”
