New England manager Roy Hodgson today announced his 23-man squad for this summer’s European Championships.
There were plenty of talking points, with uncapped duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and John Ruddy selected.
John Terry was also picked, despite an upcoming court case, while Rio Ferdinand was left out.
Stewart Downing who has not provided a goal or an assist all season was also selected, while Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon was left out.
Michael Carrick, Micah Richards, Peter Crouch and Adam Johnson were also all left out.
Squad in full:Hart, Green, Ruddy, Baines, Cahill, Cole, Johnson, Lescott, Terry, Barry, Downing, Gerrard, Lampard, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Parker, Walcott, Young, Carroll, Defoe, Rooney, Welbeck.
Players on standby: Butland, Jagielka, Henderson, Johnson, Sturridge.
