Transfer news: Arsenal are not on the verge of a loan deal for Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin, says Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that Arsenal are in the running to loan Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.

It was reported in the Spanish press yesterday that former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sahin could be on the verge of a season-long loan deal to a Premier League club, believed to be either Arsenal or Tottenham.

But Wenger denied that Arsenal were close to the 23-year-old Turkey international, saying: “We did not sign anybody today, this report is wrong.

“We are not signing anybody at the moment - we are not close.

“In the future you never know.”
