Harris, who is the 2011 British Triathlon Super Series champion, will be battling it out with an elite field in the second GE Canary Wharf Triathlon tomorrow, Thursday.

He said: “Having done the event last year, it was an amazing experience and a lot of fun racing on a small circuit around the business park! There were really good crowds as well, supporting us the whole way round.

“There will be more competition this year as everyone was interested in the event and was excited to be hopefully coming back. I’m thinking it will be an even closer battle up at the front this year as I’ve heard more foreign athletes want a piece of the limelight and excitement.”

The athletes will compete in a series of fast-paced 30 minute heats, consisting of a 400m swim, 10km bike and 2km run, before a grand final in which world-class athletes will compete for the men’s and women’s titles.

The event also includes a Corporate Challenge, open to employees of Canary Wharf companies, offering the chance to experience the thrill of racing on the same course as elite athletes, just five weeks before Hyde Park hosts the London 2012 Olympic Games triathlon events .
