FOLLOWING the success of the trail race in March from The Cricketers in Great Dunmow, Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners (GFDR) returned to the pub for the ‘Second Innings’ on Sunday.

The trail took runners across the fields to Lindsell and back, a total of about 8.5 miles. The sunny weather attracted 74 competitors representing 11 clubs.

The winner was Jon Albon in 1hr 2mins, with Nikky Brookbank of Springfield Striders second in 1h 3min and Mid-Essex Casuals’ David Hurley third in 1h 11min. For GFDR, Howard Jardine, in 10th position overall, was fastest in 1h 16min, just ahead of Sarah McLagan in 1h 18min.

Simon Burpitt finished in 1h 25min followed Chris and Pru Hayhow (1h 27min), Jules and Stuart Adams with Andy Stevenson (1h 33min), Kath Birks and Jo Kings (1h 42min), James Hawkes (1h 43min), Ian Lawson (1h 44min), Lesley Burpitt and Natalie Herbert (2h 3min), Gavin Foster and Sue Harrington (2h 6min) and Jeanette Hartley and Jane Pomfret (2h 14min).
