Fast thinking organisers of next week’s Nutwell Court Horse Trials have prevented another abandonment by relocating their entire event to a nearby venue.
Persistent wet weather has meant that ground conditions at Nutwell are unsuitable for next Tuesday and Wednesday’s event to take place but with the full co-operation of Bicton Arena and the backing of British Eventing, the committee was able to avoid yet another cancellation.
Organiser John Colson said: “With all this rain it was looking increasingly unlikely that we would be able to run so we thought we’d try everything we could to prevent another cancellation and Bicton Arena, which is just six miles away, very kindly stepped in.
“Also, we owe it to our incredible committee who all stepped into the breach to ensure this move could take place.”
The relocation of Nutwell to Bicton took place with the full backing of British Eventing and means that a record entry of more than 470 horses will compete over the course of the two days
