Barnet manager Lawrie Sanchez has not given up hope of making a trip to Wembley by aiming for the League Two play-offs.

The Bees missed out on a trip to the national stadium after they lost 1-0 to Swindon in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern final.

Barnet sit in 17th place, 11 points off the play-offs but the manager believes it is possible

“To lose to Swindon Town at that stage of the competition was very disappointing, yet as I said to the players after the game, as one door to Wembley closes perhaps another one could open via the Play-Offs,” Sanchez said.

“This would require a mammoth effort but would be a terrific achievement, however, we would need to pull up quite a few trees along the way and probably need to win some 13 of our remaining 18 matches.

“In my time as a Wimbledon player we did manage a 17 match unbeaten run at the end of the season to clinch promotion to the top-flight; so I know it can be done.”
