The 20-year-old, who was brought on for Adam Forshaw with just over 10 minutes to go, headed home in the 89th minute to cancel out Scott Laird’s 61st minute opener.

“It was a good moment,” German told London24. “Harlee Dean produced a great touch to put the defender on the back foot.

“He put in a cross and thankfully I got my head to it.

“It was definitely for the fans. We always appreciate good support, especially at Preston.

“I’m thankful we can do it in front of them.

“Coming away to Preston is always going to be hard.

“They’re a good team and have a good atmosphere. I’m thankful that we came away with a draw.”

German is hopeful that the strike can help him win a regular starting spot at Griffin Park.

“As a striker you always want to score goals,” he added. “If I keep working hard the gaffer will give me another chance.”
