AFC Wimbledon defender Pim Balkestein, who is on loan from Brentford, believes the 2-1 win over Dagenham & Redbridge will give his side confidence.

The Dutchman also hailed the fans after the win, which moves the Dons nine points clear of the relegation zone, with the Daggers now bottom of the league.

“They have had a real bad period here and confidence is a big thing in football,” he said.

“It was such a good feeling to win, I have to play and prove I can do it to the Brentford manager (Uwe Rosler) as well.

“It was an unbelievable atmosphere today and the crowd gave us a huge energy boost.”
