Brentford’s 13-game League One unbeaten run finally came to an end with a narrow defeat to leaders Tranmere Rovers at Griffin Park.

Tranmere grabbed their first goal three minutes before half time after a counter-attack ended with Bees defender Harlee Dean fouling David Amoo in the box.

Referee Darren Deadman pointed to the spot and Andy Robison made no mistake.

The Bees were on level terms five minutes after the break, when Dean atoned for his earlier mistake by heading in Jake Bidwell’s free kick.

But Adam McGurk jinked in from the right and fired past Simon Moore to restore Tranmere’s advantage.

Try as they might, Uwe Rosler’s side couldn’t find a leveller in the closing stages.
