Charlton manager Chris Powell says former Stoke City and Portsmouth striker Ricardo Fuller is ready to start his first game for the Addicks against Ipswich Town this Saturday.

The Jamaica international has so far made three substitute appearances for Charlton, scoring on his debut against Nottingham Forest.

But Valley boss Powell says Fuller is ready to start his first game having built up match after missing pre-season training.

“He’s shown to everyone what he’s about; the difficulty has always been that Ric had no training behind him,” said Powell.

“You can’t rush him, as that would set you back and set him back, more importantly.

“We have had to build him up and get him right and he’s getting there.

“So there is a decision for me to make now because I feel he’s warranted enough in training sessions and warranted enough in the games he’s played to maybe see how much we can get out of him from the start.”
