New Crystal Palace signing Michael Chambers has spoken about the reasons why he chose Crystal Palace.

The 17-year-old followed in Ian Wright’s footsteps by signing for the south London club from Hamlet.

“Palace over the years have bought a lot of players through the youth team. Obviously like (John) Bostock, Jonny Williams, (Wilfried) Zaha,” Chambers said.

“So I thought this was the right club for me to develop & push on in my football career.”

Chambers had attracted interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham and hailed the club’s policy of giving young players a chance.

“I think that had a big, big impact on me joining Palace,” he added.
